English Premier League -- Aston Villa VS Norwich City

Livescore | Match Prediction & Tips| Asian Handicap Odds|Line-ups& H2H Stats

Aston Villa: Four league defeats in a row ( Recent Form: L L L W L )

Aston Villa has since dropped to eighteenth place in the Premier League and that would mean relegation to the Championship at the end of the ride. The Villans started the season well, but lost their last five games in the Premier League. In fact, Aston Villa took only four points from the last nine league games. The pressure is therefore increasing on Smith and his team. Aston Villa has also been under the red line since last weekend. On Saturday afternoon Southampton was 1-3 strong for Aston Villa at Villa Park and as a result Southampton and Aston Villa changed places. Southampton is now seventeenth in the Premier League, while Villa is in eighteenth place due to the defeat. Aston Villa even trailed 0-3 in its own home, but Jack Grealish managed to make it a point of honor fifteen minutes before time for The Villans. On the other hand, it was a competition to forget for Villa quickly. Midfielder John McGinn broke his ankle on Saturday afternoon and is out for at least three months. De Schot is an undisputed basic player at Aston Villa and moreover was three times accurate, but Smith will have to do without McGinn in the coming period.

Norwich City: Good competition not rewarded ( Recent Form: D L L D L )

Daniel Farke's Norwich City is nineteenth in the Premier League and is three points behind Aston Villa. Norwich City also has a much worse goal balance than Aston Villa, but with a victory on Boxing Day it can come up with the same points as the fellow PhD student. The problem at Norwich City this season is that it's defensively too fragile: Norwich City, together with Southampton, has the most goals in the Premier League. That turned out again last weekend. Norwich City received a visit from Wolverhampton on Carrow Road and played a great game; The Canaries also took the lead in the first half through a goal from 21-year-old Todd Cantwell. Still, Tim Krul, the keeper of Norwich City, had to take two more goals from Wolverhampton in the last half hour, which meant the home team was left empty-handed. Considering the match, Norwich City might have earned a bit more against Wolverhampton. The fact is that The Canaries have now won only one of the last thirteen league matches. Norwich City lost 5 to Aston Villa at home on 5 October, so The Canaries have some right to set up on Boxing Day.

After all, this is an important competition for both Aston Villa and Norwich City. The bookmakers see Aston Villa as a favorite at Villa Park. I just don't quite agree with that: Villa didn't play well against Southampton but Norwich City played a great game against Wolverhampton last weekend. If Norwich City plays the same way against Aston Villa as it did in the first hour against the Wolves, then I cannot rule out that Norwich has a good result at Villa Park. I will choose Norwich City +0.5.

Aston Villa-  Norwich City

Pick: Norwich City +0.5
