Crystal Palace: Important week ( Recent Form: W W D D L )

Crystal Palace closes 2019 with a number of important competitions. Last week, for example, it tied 1-1 against Brighton on Monday, lost Newcastle United 1-0 last weekend. On Boxing Day, West Ham United comes to visit and then there are also away games at Southampton (coming Saturday) and Norwich City (New Year's Day). All these clubs are classed in the vicinity of Crystal Palace and so The Eagles have to grab some points in those matches. Roy Hodgson saw that his team lost 1-0 to Newcastle United last weekend. At St. James' Park, Crystal Palace had to take the only goal of the game seven minutes before the end and it was the eighth time this season that Crystal Palace did not score. Only the founder of Watford (ten games) often failed to score in the Premier League this season. Mamadou Sakho returns against a suspension of three games against West Ham United and is expected in the Hodgson base team on Boxing Day.

West Ham United: Had a weekend off ( Recent Form: L W L L W )

Earlier in the season, West Ham United lost 1-2 at Crystal Palace in-house and not much later, a crisis broke out at West Ham United. Almost three months after the 1-2 defeat of West Ham United, Manuel Pellegrini is still under pressure at The Hammers. The Chilean is in sixteenth place with West Ham United and the club from East London is only four points ahead of the first team under the relegation line. With two victories from the last four games, Pellegrini is currently a bit more firmly in the saddle at West Ham United than a few weeks ago, but the Chilean is absolutely unsure of his job. Against Crystal Palace, Łukasz Fabiański may be back on goal at West Ham United. The Pole hopes at least to make his comeback next week at the posts at West Ham United and that is only positive for Pellegrini, because Fabiański is a great keeper. Unlike Crystal Palace, West Ham United had no competition obligations last weekend, as Liverpool's original opponent was in Qatar for the World Championship for club teams. As a result, West Ham United has not played a match for twelve days: The Hammers won 0-2 vs. Southampton on December 14 and have not played since.

After all, the bookmakers see Crystal Palace as a light favorite for this game. I can partly understand that: Crystal Palace won from West Ham United earlier this season and plays in-house. West Ham United on the other hand managed to win the last two away games (at Chelsea and Southampton) with 0-1 and in terms of player material I think The Hammers is no less than Crystal Palace. In my opinion, the value is therefore at West Ham United +0.25.
