Olympique Marseille: Important win ( Recent Form: D W W L W )

A week and a half ago, Olympique Marseille was eliminated in the quarter finals of the Coupe de France while visiting Olympique Lyonnais, but when visiting Lille, the team of André Villas-Boas did win. For almost an hour, the people of Marseilles had little to say in Lille, but then it suddenly went fast. After sixty minutes of play, Valentin Rongier missed another penalty by trailing 1-0, but less than ten minutes later, the Marseilles were in a 2-1 lead due to a clumsy own goal from Lille and a goal from Dario Benedetto. In the remainder of the games, no more hits were recorded, so that the people of Marseilles won a competition match for the fifteenth time this season and strengthened second place. Benedetto, who returned to the base against Lille after missing two games due to an injury, already scored for the eighth time in 23 league games last weekend and managed to match his teammate Dmitri Payet in terms of the number of goals. The Frenchman, who is currently in the rags and probably will not play the game against Nantes, however, needed four games less and also managed to give an assist three times. In terms of return, the Argentinian is inferior to Payet, but Benedetto needed one goal attempt less than the Frenchman and is thus far just a little more effective when it comes to scoring.

Nantes: Six straight games without a win ( Recent Form: L L L D D )

Nantes played a 0-0 draw against Metz last weekend at home and therefore did not win for the fifth league match in a row. The team of Christian Gourcuff was much more dangerous in-house than the champion of last season's Ligue 2 and also managed to clear the score for the first time in six games, but that was not enough for Kalifa Coulibaly, despite the striker. With only two points from the last five games, les Canaris is currently one of the three only performing teams from the Ligue 1 and currently seems to have to focus on defending a spot in the middle bracket, as the subtop is increasingly out of sight. As said, Coulibaly returned to les Canaris last weekend and that seems to be good news for Gourcuff. Only Ludovic Blas and Moses Simon scored more often for Nantes this season than Coulibaly. The return of Coulibaly seems to mean bad news for Blas, because the Frenchman was not in the starting line-up against Metz for the first time this calendar year. With a little more than half an hour to play, Blas was able to substitute for Coulibaly, but the midfielder, despite his five league goals, seems to have dropped this seizeon in the ranking again.

THE BETTING VERDICT:

After all, Nantes certainly did not play badly against Metz, but that does not mean that the team of Gourcuff is currently in a form crisis. Olympique Marseille, on the other hand, is already fourteen league games in a row and turned fifteen of the 25 league games into a victory, so I had estimated a fair odds for a home win of the Marseilles around 1.5 and consider everything above that as value.
