Harrison Delbridge returns from suspension for City, who’ll be without first teamers Connor Metcalfe and Tom Glover to Olyroos duty.

Panama international striker Abdiel Arroyo returned from a hamstring injury in last round’s 2-1 home loss to Sydney and should push to play 90 minutes. Goalkeeper Glen Moss suffered a calf injury in that game and will miss, with Lewis Italiano to deputise.

Melbourne City

Suspended: None

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: Connor Metcalfe, Ramy Najjarine, Denis Genreau, Tom Glover (all international duty)

Newcastle Jets

Suspended: None

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: Nigel Boogaard (adductor), Wes Hoolahan (ankle), Glen Moss (calf)

Second-placed City have won only one of their past four league matches, drawing 2-2 away with ninth-placed Brisbane last round. They’ve conceded two goals in all of those four matches too. Erick Mombaerts’ side have won four of their six home league matches this term, although they’ve lost two.

Rock bottom Newcastle are looking for a response after Ernie Merrick’s sacking as coach and following six matches without a win. The Jets have only managed one point in that six-game run and are four points adrift in last. They’ve managed four points from six away games this term.

It’s hard to make a good argument for the Jets to buck form lines and get a result here, despite City’s stuttering recent run. I’ll back the hosts to return to winning ways.

The Jets have conceded 12 goals in their past three away matches. City are the second highest scorers in the A-League this season, so I feel this has the recipe for goals.

City thrashed the Jets 4-0 last time they met a month ago in Newcastle. The Cityzens have won four of their past five meetings in all competitions. The Jets have not won away to City since October 2015.
