MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

Bellmare were destroyed 6-0, at home, by Shimizu S-Pulse last weekend in J1. Their defence was run ragged and never looked impressive throughout the 90 minutes. After four wins in five league games from early July helped take them away from the bottom of J1 they now have just two draws – and two points – in their last five league games, and have conceded 13 goals in those five games. Last week's defeat put them three points away from the drop zone - 16th place – and allowed their opposition a four point gap from Bellmare now. They now have the second-worst defence in J1 and look like they are going to be under a lot of pressure to stay out of the bottom three.

Frontale went down to a 2-1 home loss to Vissel Kobe last weekend in J1, their only goal of the game coming from Tatsuya Hasegawa in added time. After a 15-game unbeaten run in the league they have now gone just one win in eight league matches – and that was at home to bottom team Jubilo Iwata. Their chance of a third title is slipping away fast and they are now nine points off the top spot.

Frontale's desperate need for a win after this recent wake-up call will see them give their all here against a team that has suffered in their last five matches and are in real danger of relegation.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO - HIGH

While I expect a win for Frontale, Bellmare have failed to score just once (last weekend) in 10 league games and have 18 goals in that time. They should get one against Frontale (one clean sheet in their last six league games) but will lose out in the end. At least three goals in this one.

HEAD TO HEAD

In J1 matches between these two teams last season we saw two draws, while earlier in 2019 Frontale won 2-0 at home in the league.
